About Stephen J. Fogarty
Stephen Fogarty is a long-standing member of the Quebec and Ontario Bars. His primary practice areas include immigration law, Federal Court judicial review applications, and, in recent years, specialized services for musicians.
Stephen is the author of the chapter “Interdictions de territoire” in the French-language textbook “Droit de l’immigration et de la citoyenneté” (Lexis Nexis, 2nd ed., 2022). He has taught the Quebec Bar training course “Immigration et criminalité” 13 times, conducted sessions on rehabilitation and related issues for AQAADI, and presented several seminars at the McGill Music School among others.
He holds common and civil law degrees from McGill University, graduate degrees in philosophy from the University of Ottawa and St. Paul University, and a B.A. in Philosophy and Political Science from McGill. Stephen also possesses certificates in business management (Cornell University – Dyson School), entertainment law (York – Osgoode Hall), and music theory (McGill Music Conservatory).
Stephen has served on boards of charitable organizations in Montreal and enjoys giving talks to community groups. His firm, Fogarty Étude Légale, supports Opéra de Montréal, is a corporate sponsor of the Montreal Shamrocks GAC, and has been a major donor to the Montreal Symphony (OSM) for eight seasons. As hobbies, Stephen enjoys classical music, playing the violin, horology, and F-1 racing.
