The winning firms know the value of collaboration and community engagement. They share their expertise and knowledge with the broader immigration community and bar and present and teach continuing legal education programs at organizations like the Canadian Immigration Lawyers Association (CILA).<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cIn Canadian Lawyer\u2019s announcement of who\u2019s who and who is succeeding, there\u2019ll be a common thread that those people haven\u2019t gotten there on their own,\u201d adds Caruso, who is also CILA\u2019s co-president. \u201cRegardless of where you\u2019re practising immigration law, to succeed, immigration lawyers need a community to bounce ideas off of to keep abreast of all the changes.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cFor smaller and more focused firms, they\u2019re not going to be generalized in their practice; they\u2019re going to be more specialized and focused on expertise in specific aspects,\u201d Samuel Escobar, CILA\u2019s communications and media vice president, tells Canadian Lawyer. \u201cTo be successful in immigration law, firms need to possess knowledge and fluidity.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
