This article provides transparent insights into the financial viability of building and sustaining a career in Canadian immigration law.

Whether you’re just starting out or evaluating your firm’s performance, understanding typical earnings helps set realistic expectations in an evolving industry.

For years, conversations about “what immigration practitioners really make” have happened behind closed doors—over drinks or in small circles.

At CaseEasy, we believe in bringing clarity to the industry by analyzing anonymized transactional data from more than 100,000 payments processed through our case management platform between 2020 and 2025. This unique dataset not only highlights earning potential but also reflects shifting realities brought on by policy changes, including recent changes to the immigration landscape.

Earnings Tiers in Immigration Practice

Based on anonymized, outlier-adjusted data, here’s what practitioners typically earn:

  • Established Firms (Upper 1%): $500,000 – $5,000,000 annually

These firms benefit from a steady client pipeline, strong brand recognition that drives both new and repeat business, and highly effective client acquisition channels.

  • Top-Tier (Upper 20%): $100,000–$222,000 annually

Well-established firms with consistent client flow. Achieving this level often requires specialization, strong networks, and operational efficiency—especially critical under current restrictions.

  • Median-Tier (Middle 60%): $10,000–$100,000 annually

The most common range, representing steady transaction volumes (20–50 cases per year). Growth is possible but requires consistency and adaptability.

  • Low-Tier (Lower 20%): Under $10,000 annually

Typical for new entrants or part-time practices, especially challenging under reduced immigration targets.

How the Study Was Done

  1. Data Source: Over 100,000 anonymized CaseEasy transaction records from 2020–2025.
  2. Privacy: No personally identifiable data included.
  3. Currency: CAD-only for consistency.
  4. Revenue Basis: Collected invoice amounts only (no unpaid balances).
  5. Outlier Exclusion: Removed extreme cases over $500,000 annually to reflect typical firm performance. Reintroduced to highlight the top-1% earners.

CaseEasy 360 originated from a personal experience during his Permanent Residence application with an Immigration Practitioner where he observed a lack of streamlined processes and concerns regarding data protection. This included difficulties in obtaining timely updates on the application status, often requiring multiple email exchanges. These challenges sparked the idea for a better solution, and that’s when CaseEasy 360 was born.
