Thought leadership
Last week, CILA had a positive meeting with IRCC Deputy Minister Dr. Harpreet Kocchar and other senior department officials. We spoke about CILA’s report on IRPA reform and how CILA can continue to assist IRCC. The two parties agreed to continue discussions on IRPA reforms options for IRCC to consider moving forward.
CILA featured prominently in public engagements last month. We engaged with major media outlets across Canada regarding our Immigration Levels Plan 2025-2027 position. We have also recently spoken with the Toronto Star regarding the U.S. Presidential Election and its implications for immigration to Canada. In addition, CILA was invited to speak before the Senate Standing Committee on National Security, Defence and Veterans Affairs regarding Bill C-20, An Act establishing the Public Complaints and Review Commission and amending certain Acts and statutory instruments.
Overall, CILA released 10 articles in October and are thankful to all those who contributed. Please click here if you have an article that you wish to submit to CILA. We welcome submissions on any topic you are interested in writing about.
CILA has shared updates via its Listserv in October regarding its participation in the Federal Court of Canada’s Bench & Bar Liaison Committee. The Federal Court welcomes your feedback. Please log onto the CILA Online Library and then click here to read how you can share your feedback.
We also encourage you to read our latest report: Business Insights on Immigration Policy – A Western Canada Perspective.
