Will Tao:
Will Tao is a Canadian Immigration and Refugee Lawyer and the founder of Heron Law Offices. With over a decade of experience, Will specializes in complex immigration matters, including refusals, inadmissibility issues, appeals, and judicial reviews. He frequently represents clients before the Immigration and Refugee Board and the Federal Court of Canada, with a focus on international students, families, and temporary foreign workers.
Will also provides strategic advice on immigration, decolonization, and race equity to government bodies, media, educational institutions, and businesses. He is the creator of the award-winning Vancouver Immigration Blog and has taught at the University of British Columbia’s CILPP program.
Laura Schemitsch:
Laura Schemitsch is a Canadian Immigration and Refugee Lawyer at Heron Law Offices. She has been practicing immigration law since 2020 with a wide scope of matters and complexity. Laura’s academic work has been featured in peer-reviewed journals and prominent media outlets. Her passion for immigration and refugee law began with the private sponsorship group Capital Rainbow Refuge and has included roles at Gerami Law PC and Race and Company LLP.
Now based in BC’s Sea-to-Sky corridor, Laura is dedicated to serving her community and has been recognized for her contributions, including speaking before the Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration in Canada’s House of Commons.
